Ideal Placement For These 5 Speakers. These are top quality HEAVY speakers (4 lbs each speaker) and reproduce deep bass & crisp highs, at any sound level. EACH of 5 Spkr's SPECS : · Color: Brightest White · Style: Round Flush Mount · 8 Ohm (can wire 2 per chan if desired) · 150 watts RMS, 300 watt Max (each) · Mica Cone Rubber Edge Woofer · Ferrite Magnet each spkr weighs 4 lbs! · 1 " OmniDirectional Dome Tweeter · Response: 55 - 22k Hz · Hardware Needed: None · Cut-out dimensions: 9 3/8" (two cardboard templates included) · Depth: 3 1/2 (fits anywhere).

These 5 TOP-OF-THE-LINE 8 INCH speakers have incredible sound. They each feature a built-in crossover for both the woofer and the extra large one inch omnidirectional tweeter. The extra large magnet and voice coil makes for a very efficient unit more power given as sound as opposed to heat disapp.

As these units can reproduce a surprisingly low bottom end, some customers opt not to even use an additional subwoofer. In our showroom we actually shake the floor below, without a subwoofer. Note that if you choose NOT to utilize an additional sub, you need to go to settings on your receiver and select "no subwoofer", otherwise the low-end will not be sent to the ceiling speakers.

Regarding subwoofer compatibility, since these speakers are "full range", they will work with any subwoofer that works with your receiver (unlike many other speakers which depend on a subwoofer to cover what they lack). At the other end of the spectrum, regarding the high notes, unlike the other models we sell, these units feature a tweeter TWICE the size of the others - the one inch Mylar tweeters are mounted on the exterior so that the sound is omnidirectional (see photos below).

Perhaps you heard of the recommendation to use a separate CENTER channel speaker, different from the left, right and rear speakers? This is because the center channel speaker must be of excellent quality as it reproduces the main vocals. But if you have your own center speaker, we also sell these in a 4-pack. Also, because these units are 8-ohm loads & have such a high capacity, these are compatible with virtaully ALL home theater receivers. You don't have to be concerned with overpowering or blowing these out!

Also, with these 8-ohm units, you could wire two speakers on to each channel without overloading your receiver: This is useful for example if you wanted two center channel speakers, such as for 10' wide screens or where a joist is in the center & prevents mounting the center speaker in the exact center of the screen. We know speakers, and currently use only three different models of speakers for 90% of all our home theater and home stereo installations. These particular 8 in-ceiling speakers are used for our highest-end home theater & power output installations. They are very efficient and out perform the more than 20 other models we've tested. These speakers have it all - see photos below.

So it's nice to know that if you ever do need to replace "one speaker", we sell these individually and always keep thousands in stock. If you read our feedback you'll see that we truly care about our customers. The Easiest I nstallation : These units could not be easier to install. Use the heavy 9 3/8 cardboard circle templates (we include 2 with your order) to make a circle on the the ceiling. Then cut the hole and run the wire. Then put the speaker in the hole, and tighten the attached screws. Four thick wings on the back of the speaker (see photos below) fly out and securely hold the unit in place and prevent the unit from vibrating or moving in any way.

The lip of the speaker (see the photos below) is extra wide to cover any imperfections in your cutting. Then snap on the included white grill and you're done. Since these are 8-ohms, you can use 18 gauge wire for runs.

Consider how a speaker works: Power from your receiver is applied to an electric magnet (the voice coil of the speaker). The magnetism of this electric magnet "fights against" a real "permanent" magnet. The push/pull difference is what moves the speaker & makes sound. So think about this: The smaller the "real-permanent magnet" is, the less power you get in sound, but instead a higher percentage of power is given off in heat. For a clear example, imagine removing the real-permanent magnet of a speaker. The speaker would make no sound, but would get very hot, giving off all the power from the receiver as heat. It would still be a 300watt speaker, but you wouldn't be hearing those 300watts, you'd be heating the ceiling with them. So then the opposite is equally true: The larger the magnet, the more efficient the speaker and the deeper the bottom end. Next, consider that the magnet is the most expensive part of a speaker. So when manufacturers want to make a cheaper speaker, they skimp on the magnet.
